Hello,

There is a problem related to the IR driver in Mac OS X SL and kIOHIDOptionsTypeSeizeDevice. There is an alternative IR driver for Mac OS X SL named "Candelair" (http://www.iospirit.com/labs/candelair/). When you use this driver kIOHIDOptionsTypeSeizeDevice works as expected!

Ben, thanks for the pointer. A couple of others folk have also pointed me at OSC, it seems that it's worth investigating. The XMPP family (including BOSH) seem useful at the protocol level; perhaps more remote-control-specific modeling may already be done within OSC. If I understand OSC right it works well within a LAN network, maybe XMPP can be used to bridge it into other settings?

Hi Dan,

Although I am a supporter of XMPP, I was wondering if OpenSoundControl is not a little more appropriate for remote controlling things?

Regards,

Ben
